Mowing Your Lawn

tips on mowing your Sir Walter lawn

With good growth the initial mowing may take place about two weeks after being laid.  Grab hold of the thatch to see if the grass is firmly established.  Mow high to just clip the initial leaf growth.

As an extra precaution you may wish to PULL the mower over the new lawn as opposed to pushing it over, as this is less likely to dislodge any areas that have been slower to strike.

Lowering the mower height you may do it again a few days later.  Another mowing and your lawn should  be near its desired height.  Mow new lawn when it is about 60 mm high.  DO NOT allow lawn to become long and overgrown before mowing.

Allow your lawn to dry for day or two before mowing.
