General Care
Once your Sir Walter lawn has been established for 12 months or so, following this easy maintenance guide should ensure a healthy long-lived lawn. Please read our season guide for a more in depth approach throughout the year.
MOW your lawn at 50 mm for most of the year. A good rule of thumb – remove no more than a third of the leaf at any time. If your lawn experiences substantial shade, lift your mower by at least 10 mm, as shady lawns need a longer leaf to provide sufficient photosynthesis. Avoid mowing a wet lawn and don’t allow your mower blades to become dull.
FERTILISE your lawn in early September, December and April with Sir Walter Lawn Fertiliser which is available by filling out and emailing the form found in CONTACT US, or simply by giving us a call. Since watering in is essential after fertilising, why not purchase a bucket or two with your new lawn, thereby ensuring you have some handy if a good storm is brewing or rain appears imminent.
WATER your lawn (if no rainfall) once a week in summer and every 10-14 days in spring and autumn. Deep watering is the most desirable and should preferably be done during the early morning.
